Bowman's Beach

bowman's beach at sanibel florida

Bowman’s is a great beach if you’re looking for seclusion on the island. It is located about 5 miles west of Tarpon Bay Road on the Sanibel-Captiva Road. You’ll follow signs to the parking lot (which also accommodates RV’s) and then walk down a sand path to the beach. On your walk you’ll cross a footbridge that looks over freshwater where no fishing is allowed.

Bowman’s is another great location for shelling, but it’s easier to find yourself alone on this beach because there are no homes, condos, or resorts built along it, which keeps population to a minimum. Instead you’ll get a good two-mile stretch of gorgeous sand and blue water to enjoy, frequently all by yourself.

There are three locations along Bowman’s with picnic seating, which makes it an ideal spot for large family gatherings. There are also restrooms and showers, as well as a water faucet at your disposal. Additionally, there is an exercise path (with exercise stations) located just after the footbridge and off to the right. The beach is open 7AM-7PM and parking is $2/hr.
