Turner Beach

Turner Beach is the #1 location on the islands for sunset seekers. It is located on the side of the Sanibel-Captiva Road around Blind Pass (a narrow section of land that separates Captiva from Sanibel.) You should definitely schedule an evening sunset here, even if you don’t plan on spending one of your vacation days on this particular beach.

You will not want to return home without seeing a sunset from the Turner Beach perspective. Turner Beach is actually two separate beaches, with one on each side of the pass. Both sides are wide and have great shelling and fishing, but signs warn against swimming because there is a strong undertow.

Sanibel is such a great family vacation destination because parents don’t worry about strong currents in her shallow, calm waters. In contrast is the Captiva shoreline, which is characterized by steep drop-offs and strong currents. For this reason, if you are traveling with young children, you may not want to schedule a whole day on Turner Beach.
